Robert M. Huff, CPA, CFE

Managing Director and founding member of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, Robert Huff received his Bachelor of Arts from Madison College and his Masters of Science in Accounting from the University of Virginia. In his 35+ year career with RFC, Robert has served both large and small clients in a wide variety of industries. His focus has primarily been on governmental audits and financial consulting, advising his clients on the business and tax issues that local governments face. He has provided his clients with a wide range of services including financial systems and internal control evaluations, as well as mainline audit and management services.  Robert has considerable experience in governmental accounting, having performed the audits of numerous counties and related agencies throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Matthew A. McLearen, CPA, CFE

Member of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, Matthew A. McLearen received his Bachelor of Science in Business (Accounting) from Virginia Tech.  Matthew has assisted and managed the audits of many counties, cities, towns, school divisions, jails and public authorities throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.  He has also performed and managed audits and financial statement reviews for numerous corporations and other for-profit entities.  Furthermore, Matthew has performed and managed the audits of employee retirement plans including 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plans.  Matthew also has extensive experience in the preparation of federal and state returns for a variety of clients including corporations, partnerships, individuals and trusts.

David E. Foley, CPA

Member of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, David E. Foley received his Bachelor of Science in Business (Accounting) from Virginia Tech.  David has assisted and managed the audits of many counties, cities, towns, school divisions, jails and public authorities throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.  He has also managed and participated in numerous audits and financial statement reviews of nonprofit organizations, including voluntary health and welfare organizations, and other corporate entities.  David also has considerable experience in the preparation of corporate, partnership, individual and nonprofit tax returns.

Thomas P. Smith, CPA, MBA

Director of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, Thomas P. Smith received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Business Administration degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. During his over three decade career with RFC, Tom has represented a variety of clients in numerous industries. He has provided tax and accounting services for individuals, partnerships, corporations, nonprofits, trusts and estates. He has also provided audit and related services for businesses, nonprofits, employee benefit plans, state agencies, counties, cities, towns, school boards, public authorities and other units of local government. Tom was recognized by Virginia Business as a “Super CPA” in 2001.

Kristen L. Choate, CPA

Director of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, Kristen Choate received her Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) from Radford University.  Kristen has assisted and managed the audits of counties, towns, school divisions, jails and public authorities throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.  In addition, she is the Director of the Firm’s Quality Control Department, which reviews all audit reports issued by the Firm and provides auditors and clients with financial reporting guidance and requires advanced knowledge of all accounting pronouncements. Kristen also serves as a member of the GFOA’s Special Review Committee and was recognized by Virginia Business as a “Super CPA” in 2010.

Randolph W. Jones, Jr., CPA

Director of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, Randolph W. Jones, Jr. received his Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.  Randy has participated in and managed audits, compilations, and reviews of the financial statements of numerous governmental, commercial, and not-for-profit entities, homeowners' and related associations, and school activity funds.  He has also participated in and managed audits of employee retirement plans, and has extensive experience in the preparation of federal and state income tax returns for a variety of clients including individuals, partnerships, corporations, homeowners and related associations, employee benefit plans, trusts and not-for-profit entities.

Blacksburg

Deanna L. Cox, CPA

A Member of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, Deanna L. Cox received her Bachelor of Arts from Randolph-Macon Woman's College. Deanna has been with the Firm since 1987 during which time she has managed over ninety governmental and non-profit audits including audits of counties, cities, towns, school divisions, numerous water and sewer authorities, industrial development authorities, regional libraries, volunteer fire departments and rescue squads, school activity funds, general district courts, as well as special audits of various federal grant projects. She has also prepared cost allocation plans for over twenty counties to recover indirect costs incurred in administering federal grants and contracts and has assisted in a variety of consulting services.

Corbin C. Stone, CPA

Managing Director of the Blacksburg Office, Corbin Stone received a Bachelor of Science in Management, a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and a Masters of Business Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Corbin has prepared comprehensive annual financial reports and audited financial statements for numerous engagements. In addition he has prepared numerous state and federal tax and information returns for clients. Corbin has also provided clients with consulting services including financial forecasting/budgeting, impact studies related to annexations and boundary adjustments of localities, cost allocation plans, personnel pay rate studies, conversion to new accounting software, and investment related decisions.

Gordon B. Jones, CPA

A Member of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, Gordon B. Jones received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Radford University. Gordon has assisted and managed the audits of counties, cities, towns, school divisions including school activity funds and authorities, board and commissions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has also assisted and managed a number of not-for-profit audits. Gordon also manages the tax practice of the Blacksburg office which prepares individual, corporate, and partnership federal and state returns.

Fredericksburg

David L. Hughes, CPA

A Member of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, David Hughes received his Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Virginia. David has assisted and managed the audits of many counties, cities, towns, school divisions, public authorities, regional libraries, voluntary health and welfare organizations and nonprofit organizations. He has also performed special audits of various federal grant projects. In addition, David has performed consulting services in the following areas: development of policy and procedure manuals for various accounting functions; verifications of amounts reported for purposes of local taxation; and development of the general fixed asset groups.

Irvin J. Farmer, Jr., CPA, CGFM

A founding Member and Director of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, Irvin J. Farmer, Jr. received his Bachelor of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University. Over the course of his four decade accounting career, Jack has participated in and managed the audits of numerous counties, cities, towns, public authorities, boards and commissions, including audits of the General Assembly, legislative agencies, and commissions of the Commonwealth of Virginia.  He has assisted many clients in obtaining and maintaining the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.  He has also provided consulting services concerning issues of budgetary management to several localities.  In addition, Jack has considerable experience providing tax services for individuals, partnerships, corporations, nonprofits, trusts and estates.

Andrew P. Grossnickle, CPA

A Member of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, Andrew P. Grossnickle received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting) from Bridgewater College and his Masters of Accounting (Forensic Accounting) from Florida Atlantic University.  Andrew has assisted and managed the audits of many counties, cities, towns, school activity funds, jails, homeowners associations, and not-for-profit organizations.  He has also performed special audits of various federal grant projects as well as other agreed upon procedures engagements. Andrew also has extensive experience in the preparation of federal and state returns for a variety of clients including corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts, and non-profits.

Richmond

Steven J. Jacobs, MBA

Managing Director of the Richmond office and Director of Consulting Services, Steve Jacobs received his Bachelor of City Planning from the University of Virginia and his Master of Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. Steve has participated in and managed numerous management consulting engagements for Virginia localities. Issues addressed by several of these assignments have included capital budgeting, financial forecasting, management systems, cost allocation plans, and personnel studies. He has been project manager for preparation of comprehensive personnel management systems and capital improvement programs.

Paul H. Lee, CPA

A Member of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates, Paul H. Lee received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Virginia and did his Post Baccalaureate Accounting Studies through the Virginia Community College System. Paul has participated in and managed numerous audits of counties, cities, towns and public authorities within the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has also participated in and managed audits of a number of not-for-profit corporations. While Paul has specialized in governmental and not-for-profit audit services, he also has prepared cost allocation plans, assisted in preparation of financial forecasts and budgets, assisted in evaluations of accounting systems and assisted with the Firm's Bright technology services.
