Robinson, Farmer, Cox, Associates Announces Prof. William M. VanDenburgh as the Firm's Faculty Fellow at James Madison University 

Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates Educational Foundation (RFCA Educational Foundation) has endowed a Faculty Fellowship in Accounting at James Madison University. William VanDenburgh, CPA, Associate Professor of Accounting, has been selected as the first recipient of this new fellowship based on his dedication to the field of accounting as demonstrated by his outstanding scholarship and his enthusiasm for teaching in the undergraduate accounting program at JMU.

Professor William Meriwether VanDenburgh is the Robinson, Farmer, Cox, Associates Faculty Fellow at James Madison University.   Professor VanDenburgh’s areas of research and teaching interests include governmental policy and tax planning.  He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) in Louisiana and is an Enrolled Agent (licensed to practice before the IRS).  His work has appeared in 40 accounting and tax journals (academic, policy, and practitioner), including  Advances in Taxation, The CPA Journal, The Journal of Accountancy, Tax Notes, CCH’s Taxes, and RIA’s Practical Tax Strategies, among other journals.

Professor VanDenburgh received a BBA from Millsaps College, in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1988.  In 1991, he received a MBA from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He received a MS degree in Accounting – Taxation Option from the University of New Orleans in 1997.  In 2004, he received a PhD from Louisiana State University in Accounting with a minor in Public Administration.

Professor VanDenburgh previously worked as an auditor for the US Department of Agriculture Office of Inspector General.  Before joining JMU, he taught at the University of New Orleans.  Professor VanDenburgh resides in Harrisonburg, VA with his wife Sherry and two teenage daughters.

The Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates Educational Foundation strives to promote excellence in public accounting and public administration in Virginia through its annual scholarship program.  The Foundation’s Board awards several scholarships based on need and performance.  The Foundation is pleased to extend this support to assist the James Madison University accounting department in attracting and retaining top professors in the accounting field where demand is high.
